Pediatric and Neonatal Care and Research Centre in association with Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health Centre, United Medicity, Rawatpur observed ‘World Breastfeeding Awareness Week’ from August 1 to 7 by organizing awareness programs in rural and urban areas of Prayagraj district. The camps were organized at the anganwadi centres of Masika and Chirala Mujapta village of Chaka Block and Bamrauli respectively. Doctors from Department of Community Medicine, United Institute of Medical Sciences (UIMS), Rawatpur educated lactating mothers about the importance of mother milk to infants and about the right postures while breastfeeding. Dr Sanjeev Kumar told the importance of breastfeeding week while Dr Amit Kumar explained how breast milk is different from artificial feeding. Similarly, Dr Anjani Kumar talked about infant milk substitute, bottle feeding and right posture while feeding. Free distribution of low cost nutritive food supplements were also given to mothers in the camp. They were asked to take nutritious foods. On this occasion, UIMS students also participated in a poster making competition followed by an awareness session on the importance of breastfeeding. The camp was organized under the supervision of Head of Department of community Medicine Dr Sanjeev Kumar. He said that the events organized during the week planned in accordance with the theme of World Breastfeeding Week for this year "Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support". Dr Anuj Kumar Singh said that mother’s milk has no substitute as it is the only source of immunity and nutrition from mother to newborn that remains a lifelong health asset. Mementos were given to Aganwadi Supervisor Ms Meera Shrivasta and aganwadi worker Renu Shukla. Dr Shishikiran, Lady Medical Officers (LMO) Dr Sana with medical staff Shripal, Rakesh, Arshe Alam and Saima Faroqi were present in the camp.

15.5kg tumor removed from a patient at United Medicity A team of doctors of United Medicity, Rawatpur, Prayagraj successfully removed a 15.5kg tumor from a 27-year-old patient. This is the first case where a tumor of such a big size has been removed from any patient in the hospital. The team of doctors who performed surgery includes Dr Shiv Kumar Yadav, Dr Akhilesh Yadav, Dr Akshay Bright, Dr Ayushi and Dr Ankush. Dr Shiv, Astt Prof , Deptt of surgery United Medicity , said that the patient Dhara Pal, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Kaushambi was admitted in the hospital on July 19 after having a complaint of abdominal swelling, vomiting with weight loss for the last six months. He was admitted in the hospital and was examined thoroughly. Dr Kumar said that a CT Scan of his abdomen was also done which showed a large tumor after which a surgery was performed. He said the patient’s condition is stable and that he is recovering fast.

United Medicity, Rawatpur is now among very few hospitals in Uttar Pradesh which have the facility of performing open heart surgeries or cardiothoracic vascular surgeries (CTVS). It includes bypass surgery, repair of a hole in the heart and damaged heart values. The hospital recently performed the surgery on two patients including 28-year-old Mangal Das Yadav, a resident of Karari in Kaushambi and 49-year-old Anjani Tripathi, a resident of Kaudiya, Gohani Kalan of the same district. Both the patients were admitted to the hospital on July 11 after having a problem in the heart. Commissioner, Prayagraj Division Sanjay Goel and his wife Shradha Goel on Monday met the two patients at the CTVS Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. Medical director, United Medicity Dr. Pramod Kumar said that the surgeries performed on the patients were recovering fast. He said that with this surgery, United Medicity is now among the few hospitals in the state to provide the facility to its patients.

A tree plantation drive was carried out on the campus of United University (UU) and United Medicity (UM) in Rawatpur, Prayagraj. The drive was carried out in association with Regional Transport Office (RTO), Prayagraj. Around 200 saplings of both fruit-bearing and non-fruit bearing trees were planted. On the occasion of the 8th International Yoga Day, a two-day free health check-up camp was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, United Institute of Medical Sciences (UIMS), Rawatpur, Prayagraj. The camp ended on Wednesday. Interestingly, as many as 250 patients received treatment at the camp. The camp was organized by Urban Health Training Center (UHTC) and Rural Health Training Center (RHTC) at Sheikh Sarwa village of Bamrauli and Rehi Miya Ka Purva village of Naini respectively. RHTC in-charge Dr. Anuj Singh informed the media that the men, women, and children who attended the camp were made aware of the benefits of yoga in improving lifestyle and health. He further said that the patients were also given suggestions for practising a couple of asanas such as Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, Anulom-Vilom to stay healthy and fit. UHTC in-charge Dr. Nitin Kumar Singh also told the news daily that the patients suffering from health problems like seasonal flu, diabetes, hypertension, weakness, malnutrition, and other diseases were recommended tests and given medicines. On this occasion, a yoga practice session was also organized at United Medicity and UIMS in which several doctors and the university faculty members participated. The event was led by yoga experts Parmanand Kushwaha and Rahu.

United Institute of Medical Sciences (UIMS), Department of Community Medicine, Prayagraj conducted a health awareness campaign on Anti-Tobacco Day at Sheikh Sarwa village of Bamrauli on Tuesday. In the village to check the health of the people. Free health check-up camp was also organized. Describing the dangers of tobacco consumption, Dr. Nitin Kumar Singh said that the use of tobacco causes lung cancer. He said that about 80 to 90 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer have a history of tobacco smoking. Shri Singh also suggested ways for the people to get rid of the consumption of e-tobacco. Expressing concern over the changes taking place in the environment, Dr. Anjani Srivastava said that the tobacco industry has a huge harmful effect on the environment and it should be taken seriously. Giving information to villagers in a health awareness campaign on Anti-Tobacco Day, Dr. Srivastava appealed to the people to save nature and the environment by planting trees around them. Medical students also conducted a survey on tobacco consumption by the people of the village. They asked people many questions related to the use of tobacco. Like from what age they started consuming tobacco and what health problems they faced after consuming it etc. Saima Farooqui and Rajiv Gangwar were also present during the camp.

Asthma screening mandatory for school children: Prof. Rajendra PRAYAGRAJ: The Department of Respiratory Medicine of UIMS on Saturday Organized seminars on Asthma and Allergy Updates and Help in Asthma Management by Yoga. It began with the release of the book 'Open Secrets of Allergy and Immunology' authored by Prof. Alok Chandra. Prof (Dr) Rajendra Prasad, Medical College, Lucknow unveiled the book. Special guest and Vice President Satpal Gulati congratulated Prof. Chandra. Speaking on Asthma and Allergies, Prof. Prasad said that 75 percent of cases of asthma are due to some kind of allergy. School children should get tested for asthma. Prof. Suryakant, Dr. Mangal Singh, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Dr. Balkishan spoke. Directed by Prof. Geeta Jaiswal.

In a seminar organized in the Department of Respiratory Medicine, United Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof. Guest released the book Open Secrets of Allergy and Immunology written by (Dr) Alok Chandra. Professor Alok Chandra's book released Prayagraj. The Director of Asthma and Allergy in the hall held a seminar on the topic of Medical Education and Major Updates and Help from Yoga to Asthma Management in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine ERA Medical College, Lucknow, Prof. (Dr) Rajendra Prasad unveiled the book. On the occasion of World Asthma Day, the Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases, United Institute of Medical Sciences (UNITED MEDICITY ), Rawatpur, Prayagraj started a 30 day long 'Asthma Month'. This will continue till 3rdJune 2022. Dr Mangal Singh, Principal, UNITED MEDICITY informed that during the month of Asthma, all the patients suffering from asthma and allergies will be provided free of cost treatment and medicines along with free check-ups. During the meeting organized on the occasion of World Asthma Day at UNITED MEDICITY , he urged doctors and medical students to treat patients better. Sansu, Naini: On World Asthma Day, the Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases of the United Institute of Medical Sciences has commenced with a 30-day long Asthma Month. The last day of Asthma Month will be marked on 3rd June 2022. Dr Alok Chandra, Head, gave information on the causes of asthma and allergies along with their possible medical treatments. Dr Bal Krishna said that a souvenir on asthma and allergies would be released on May 14 to make people aware. United medicity sets its foot into the domain of infertility care. Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology led by Prof. Urvashi Barman Singh organised workshop on 'intra uterine insemination' (IUI) in conjunction with Department of Pathology. Dr shalini dwivedi and team from NOVA IVF demonstrated the IUI. Dr Yasheswini, Dr Ashvini, Dr Anjali and Dr Ankur from OBGY department were participants. This facility will be available to all needy people from 7th October onwards. HOD Prof. Urvashi Barman Singh talked about increasing prevelance of infertility worldwide and IUI is a non invasive, cost effective method and a boon for infertile couples (especially unexplained infertility). DR Shalini Dwivedi ( NOVA IVF, Prayagraj infertility specialist ) shared her experience and knowledge on IUI and demonstrated accurate method for semen preparation to our participants and gave them hands on training.

United Medicity has been carrying out its social activities from time to time for the benefit of the poorer section of the society. To carry this further, and in view of the recent rise in viral fever in children and adults and cases of dengue fever, special steps have been taken to help the people of Prayagraj and nearby areas. A special infectious disease ward has been set up to admit these patients. The emergency services are 24x7 and pediatricians and medical specialist are available round the clock to attend top these patients. The bed charges and consultation charges for this ward has been waived and patient will be admitted free of cost. The investigations are being heavily subsidized and only necessary investigations will be done. The patients have to bear the cost of medicines only. These patients will be provided free foods also. We are sure these steps will help the poor people greatly and will ease the burden on government hospitals. We hope more people take benefit of this facility and will also save many lives.

United Medicity has been committed in control of Covid 19 since the beginning of outbreak. Starting the first private sector Covid Care facility last year, United Medicity was firm in its approach and provided the residents of prayagraj and nearby areas a registered treatment center of excellence. Over 95 children from flood-hit slums attended health check-up camp at United Medicity Over 95 underprivileged children from flood-hit areas of Prayagraj attended a health check-up camp conducted under the aegis of Rotary Allahabad Royals at the United Medicity Hospital, Prayagraj, on Wednesday. These poor children were from the flood-hit slums situated in different parts of the city including Gaughat, Kareli and Karelabagh among others. These flood victims were checked-up thoroughly by pediatric and eye specialist doctors including Dr Mohd Kasif, Dr Sonia Agarwal, Dr Manish Tandon, Dr Shiv Lal Vishwakarma and Dr Vishwajeet Kumar. The health check-up camp was conducted under the supervision of Medical Director, United Medicity Dr Pramod Kumar. Speaking on the occasion, president, Rotary Allahabad Royals Shazia Khan shared the objective of the health check-up camp. She said the Rotary Allahabad has taken the initiative in order to diagnose health-issues of children living in the slums of the city which recently had got affected in the flood. This will help us to provide children a better medical treatment, she added. The president also told children about the importance of cleanliness and asked them to adopt good habits in order to remain healthy. Rotarian Poonam Gulati told children about the importance of education and health. She also shared some plans with the Rotarians to educate underprivileged children of the society. Vice-president, United Group and Rotarian Radhika Gulati interacted with children and asked them about Covid-19 and the importance of vaccination in order to know about their awareness. She encouraged children to participate regularly in health check-up camps to remain fit. The Rotarians also distributed refreshments to children and health-kits to teen-aged girls. In line with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and in view of the possible third phase of the epidemic of covid-19, a CME on prevention of Covid in children was organized by United Institute of Medical Science and United Medicity Hospital on 26th and 27th August 2021. Approximately 125 doctors participated and they were given detailed information regarding the treatment of COVID patients and prevention of Covid in children. They were trained by senior doctors and faculties of United Institute of Medical Science. Department of Psychiatry emphasized upon importance of proper personal care in Covid patients. Besides, Department of Pediatrics emphasized on resuscitation and delivery room care of neonates born to Covid mothers. Following that Department of OBS & GYNAE gave presentation on labor and delivery in women with suspected or confirmed Covid infection. Lastly, department of Microbiology gave presentation on sample collection for covid in a child, community surveillance, screening and contact training. This program aims at training the doctors of all the departments due to the possibility of more children getting affected in the possible third COVID wave. This is being done so that children could get right treatment.

Out of eighty-seven faculty & staff members of the United Group of Institutions, of whom forty were men and forty-seven were women, eighty-four were vaccinated on the second day of a 2-day vaccination drive organised by United Medicity, Jhalwa, Prayagraj. Eighty-four members of UGI were administered with the first dose of Covishield under the supervision of Dr. Srikant Reddy, whereas three members were suffering from high blood pressure and couldn't be vaccinated. The first day of the drive saw the vaccination of 79 members of UGI.

United Group of Institutions, Naini United Medicity participated in a 2-day Vaccination Drive organised by United Medicity, Jhalwa, Prayagraj. The vaccination drive went on from 11 am to 4 pm on the first day and followed the COVID-appropriate norms and protocols. Seventy-nine members of the UGI faculty & staff, consisting of fourteen women and sixty-five men, were administered with the first dose of Covishield. Medical Director, Dr. Pramod Kumar has also spoken of the availability of Sputnik vaccines at United Medicity as soon as possible. This vaccination drive also saw the participation of United Group of Institutions Vice-Chairman Satpal Gulati, United Institute of Technology Principal, Prof. Sanjay Srivastav, and United Institute of Pharmacy Principal Dr. Alok Mukherji.

The first day saw seventy-nine faculty and staff members of United Group of Institutions getting Covishield vaccinations of whom 14 were women and 65 were men. Vice Chairman Satpal Gulati, Dr. Sanjay Srivastava and Dr. Alok Mukherji were also present.

Mr. Nani Gopalji (88 yrs.) & Mrs. Mira Rani 77 yrs.) leaving after being discharged from United Medicity. Both of them had been infected by COVID-19 and successfully defeated the disease under the services of all medical staff at United Medicity.
