The Indian Academy of Tropical Parasitology (IATP) was established in 2007 by Dr. S.C. Parija, Former Director, JIPMER, Pondicherry; Former Vice Chancellor, Shri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry; and Professor Emeritus, NAMS, New Delhi, along with seven founder members. The Academy was founded with the aim of promoting research in the field of parasitology, encompassing key disciplines such as protozoology, helminthology, and entomology of tropical importance.
The 7th Annual Conference of the Uttar Pradesh Chapter of IATP marks a significant milestone. The primary objective of the U.P. Chapter is to enhance knowledge and research capabilities among microbiologists, parasitologists, and medical professionals. It also aims to bring together academicians and researchers across the state for meaningful scientific exchange and to foster professional development through conferences, workshops, and collaborative initiatives.
Over the years, numerous academic programs and conferences have been conducted across various medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, significantly contributing to the growth of parasitology as a specialized field. With increasing participation and enthusiastic involvement, the U.P. Chapter continues to expand its academic footprint and remains committed to promoting research, innovation, and excellence in tropical parasitology.

A pioneer in Indian Parasitology with over four decades of contributions to medical education, research, and institution building across the country.

United Institute of Medical Sciences (UIMS) is a premier medical institution functioning under United University, located in Prayagraj, the cultural and educational heart of Uttar Pradesh. With a 1000-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital, UIMS stands as a dynamic centre of excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.
Established in 2020 as the first private medical college in Prayagraj, UIMS represents a bold step toward advancing healthcare and medical learning in the region. Spread across a ten-lakh square feet lush green campus, the institute features state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced laboratories, modern lecture theatres, smart classrooms, and cutting-edge clinical facilities, creating an ideal ecosystem for nurturing future medical leaders.
Since admitting its first MBBS batch in 2020, UIMS has been committed to shaping competent, compassionate, and ethically driven doctors who serve the nation with dedication and excellence. In a short span, the institution has achieved significant milestones, including successfully organizing State conferences in Anatomy (2023) and ENT (2024), reflecting its growing academic stature.
UIMS also proudly celebrates the achievement of securing Postgraduate (P.G.) seats in multiple departments, including Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Radio Diagnosis, Medicine, Surgery, and Dermatology. This milestone underscores the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and quality medical education.
The college is now ambitiously progressing toward obtaining P.G. seats in additional clinical specialties and super speciality branches, further strengthening and expanding its academic portfolio.
Strategically located at Rawatpur near Jhalwa, in close proximity to Prayagraj Airport, UIMS offers seamless connectivity by air, rail, and road, making it easily accessible from across the state and the country.
With its vision rooted in excellence, innovation, and service, UIMS continues to rise as a distinguished hub of medical education and healthcare delivery.

The Department of Microbiology provides essential laboratory diagnostic services to support patient care and hospital infection control activities. Led by Prof. Dr. Saumya Singh, the department performs routine and specialized investigations for the diagnosis of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
The department actively supports the Hospital Infection Control Program through surveillance of hospital-acquired infections, monitoring of antimicrobial resistance, hand hygiene audits, and assistance during outbreak situations.

Prayagraj unfolds like a sacred poem written upon the waters of eternity. At the revered Triveni Sangam — where the gentle Ganga and graceful Yamuna merge with the mystical Saraswati — visitors witness a sight both serene and soul-stirring. At dawn, golden sunlight shimmers across the rippling currents as pilgrims offer prayers, while evening aarti bathes the riverbanks in a luminous glow of faith.
The majestic Allahabad Fort stands sentinel along the sacred banks, its ancient ramparts echoing tales of Mughal splendour and centuries of history. The city's historic charm extends into Chandrasekhar Azad Park (formerly Alfred Park) and Khusro Bagh — a magnificent Mughal garden housing exquisitely crafted sandstone mausoleums.
Anand Bhawan, the ancestral home of the Nehru family, now a museum, preserves rare photographs, personal belongings, and memories of India's freedom movement.
During the awe-inspiring Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj transforms into a vibrant spiritual cosmos — an extraordinary gathering where devotion, colour, culture, and humanity converge in spectacular harmony.
Come, immerse yourself in the spiritual serenity, cultural richness and timeless charm of Prayagraj — a city where faith, history, and heritage converge in perfect harmony.
